Governments and policymakers are creating policies and regulations that impact the web in certain regions of the world. W3C has decades of commitment to ensuring that the web is for everyone through our rigorous emphasis on accessibility, internationalization, privacy, and security.

Summary (proposed)

The work of tech-related policy makers and regulators commonly overlaps with the W3C’s work. It's beneficial for our community to help policy makers and regulators with understanding, navigating and harmonising with our work in specific areas (with solicited and unsolicited feedback). The AB wants to support Team with this.

This work doesn't include

• Engagement with policy makers and regulators to push for specific regulation or values.
• Advocacy for specific values.
• Advocacy for specific technologies.

This work can include

• Engagement to help with understanding of the contents of W3C's standards and guidance, the way we work, timelines.
• Engagement to harmonise with our standards, including with European standards orgs, for instance to avoid inconsistencies.
• Engagement to find out which web standards could be useful to specific policy areas to see if there is interest with members to work on them.
